The University of Bath is a partner in the Arthritis Research UK Centre for Sport, Exercise and Osteoarthritis (CSEO). The Centre comprises a national consortium of prestigious Universities and external partners and was recently renewed for a 5-year term. The Centre brings many tangible benefits, including access to a range of relevant expertise, a coherent research community, research training opportunities and travel grants, among others.

As part of CSEO, the Department for Health at Bath will be leading a programme of research related to the efficacy of technology supported physical activity/exercise interventions in patients with chronic knee pain (i.e. early stage osteoarthritis). We are seeking a dynamic, adaptable colleague who will work with us to design and deliver pilot/feasibility studies and assist with the development of research grant applications to fund larger randomised controlled trials.

The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of exercise promotion and prescription, as well as expertise in physical activity measurement and interpretation. A background in exercise biochemistry may be useful in identifying and incorporating relevant biomarkers of musculoskeletal and/or cardiometabolic disease risk. Experience in designing and delivering complex trials is essential, preferably in the clinical environment.

This is a full time, fixed term post for up to two years.
